WebJun 5, 2024 · Math word problem solving, a form of reading comprehension, is complicated by mathematical lexical ambiguity (e.g., the word difference can mean dissimilarity in everyday discourse but the answer in a subtraction problem in math). This study examined the role of mathematical lexical ambiguity in math word problem solving. WebThe study made use of researcher-made questionnaires in reading comprehension and problem solving skills. Moreover, Pearson – Product Moment Correlation and Linear Regression were used as statistical tools. The results of the study revealed that the level of reading comprehension and problem solving of the students was average.
